Slaughterhouse 5 is one of my favourite books of all time, and I just wish that I could stop seeing this quote printed over hipsterised images of beaches and close ups of happy couples on 13 year olds’ tumblrs. I think it’s great that this quote has touched so many, but I do think that without context it loses most, if not all of its meaning
bless you
may the creator of the universe bless you and this
BLESS THIS POST.
G.P.O.Y. End of story.

I gotta say, I was so proud of this project.
My tribute to Vonnegut, a genius and a begrudging gentleman.
DAMN. I like.
I love the Hipster Princess meme :) But I don’t think being a Vonnegut fan makes you a hipster. Hipsters have just given us a bad rep. I want Kurt Vonnegut to be mainstream! Any of my friends can tell you that I’m constantly trying to spread the word about him. If you haven’t picked up one of his books yet, go do it ASAP!
…OK, I guess I’m kind of a Vonnegut hipster. I specifically didn’t read Slaughterhouse-Five first because it’s the one everyone’s read. But that was just one time!
Also, hipster complaints aside, this made me laugh out loud.
Reblogging myself from my archive. Because this is still funny.
please venture past this book and further into Kurt Vonnegut’s writings.
I’m so sick of searching the Vonnegut tag on here and only seeing “so it goes…” or “everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.”
jesus christ.
the man was a literary genius, read a little bit.
it makes me sad.
whatever.
Why is everything on the KV tag such a gpoy tonight?? Slaughterhouse Five is a fantastic novel with many quotable phrases, and I loved every moment of it. But it’s not his only book, and in my opinion, it’s not even his best. Solution: READ ALL THE VONNEGUT.
The thing I didn’t like about Slaughterhouse-five was how it ripped off that quote I keep seeing on Tumblr.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, this is beautiful.

Hehehe, this made me giggle. Love. But it was like totally worth it.

Reblogging because it’s the full quote, with context :)Excerpt from God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian by Kurt Vonnegut. Just read this little book in about 45 minutes. Everyone should read it.
Kurt Vonnegut’s book.
I swear, if no one appreciates this, I’m deleting my tumblr, for it will not be a place I want to be in.
Vonnegut is awesome, damn it.
Truth. Nothing makes me happier than seeing people quote “Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt” and then credit it to Slaughterhouse Five.
From Steve Almond’s essay, “Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt”.
